Tasting Notes

Colour

Radiant golden amber with sunlit honey tones and a copper-gold glow.

Nose

Richly aromatic, toasted American oak gives vanilla and caramel a warm footing, then a lush Oloroso sherry lift arrives. Prune, fig and raisin mingle with almond and hazelnut, touched by orange zest and spice. A velvety, nutty sweetness lingers, hinting at toffee and gentle Christmas spice.

Palate

Silky, medium-full on the palate with honeyed vanilla, dark fruitcake sweetness and velvety oak. Notes of fig, raisin, orange zest and almond rise, balanced by sherry-rich depth, warming spice, and a long, nutty finish.

Finish

An opulent finish of Oloroso sherry, revealing ripe dried fruit—fig and raisin—rounded by maple, toffee, and a hint of dark cocoa and almond. Warm spice and vanilla emerge as sweetness gradually fades, leaving a refined, lingering finish that echoes sherry-cask richness and polished oak.

The name comes from Ballynahinch, meaning “town of the island” in Irish, and Hinch’s own story began in 2016 before the purpose-built distillery officially opened in 2021 following a £15 million investment.
