The first in a new range of four whiskies from Highland Park called The Valhalla Collection. This first release is Thor, God of Thunder and alleged architect of the Cliffs of Yesnaby on the west coast of Orkney Mainland.
The packaging is pretty unique in that it's a wooden frame styled after the prow of a viking longboat which is hinged to allow easy access to the bottle.23,000 bottles of this American oak seasoned by Oloroso Sherry limited edition ewere released and bottled at a thunderous 52.1% ABV.
A wonderfully executed Highland Park from a distillery that can do no wrong by me, just wish i would have purchased two of each of the Valhalla series as they are now very hard to find as a complete set.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery sheen and mahogany undertones, a warm, luminous hue suggestive of sherry influence.
Nose
Butterscotch and clove spice mingle with ginger honey, followed by the trademark sweet bonfire smoke and a vanilla edge.
Palate
Earthy heather toffee, aromatic spices, and forest-floor mulchy notes, all lightly laced with smoke.
Finish
Smoked custard Danish pasties linger, tempered by earthy forest-floor wood and savory, smoky depth.
