Feastured in the 1001 whiskies you must try before you die book.
Master Blender Stuart Harvey has pulled out all the stops to create this superb Hankey Bannister 40 Year Old. This well aged blend has been carefully selected from Spanish Sherry Oak Casks distilled in 1967 and 1970 from the Highlands to name a few. These Casks are then expertly blended with the finest Lowland grain. Bottled at Cask Strength and presented in unique decanter and presentation box. Each decanter comes individually numbered with a signed certificate of authenticity.
A real sense of some old age here, a rich and unctuous blend with some well balanced grain and malt elements.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a warm, mahogany-tinted edge—a sun-kissed, aged-sherry glow.
Nose
A sumptuous nose of blackcurrant cordial and plum jam, with sherry-soaked figs and dates, fruitcake and dried fruit underpinning a ring of oak. Mint and tobacco add an herbal backbone, while chocolate-covered raisins lend a sly chocolate gloss.
Palate
Fig jam on malty brown bread with black cherry compote and a rich, dark sherry-tinged fruitiness. Subtle notes of mint, caramelised nuts, and tarte tatin with cinnamon, clove and marzipan.
Finish
Burnt nut butter and aromatic oak open the finish, followed by tobacco, mint leaf, chestnuts and chocolate, with sherry soaked dried fruit weaving through. Rich and juicy with caramelised dark fruit like figs or dates, it closes on polished antique oak, a firm and long finish.
