A single cask offering from one of Speyside's hidden gems, Glentauchers released by independent bottler Claxton's.

Aged for 20 years in an Ex-Bourbon Barrel and distilled on 4th December 1996.

Natural colour and non chill filtered and yielded just 154 bottles.

A faultless classic Ex-Bourbon cask aged Speysider that pleases with every sip and much like drinking liquid sunshine all be it with a bit more fruit and less heat despite its 51.9% ABV!

Tasting Notes

Colour

Bright golden honey with sunlit amber highlights

Nose

Ripe pear and baked apples with caramelised demerara sugar, freshly baked biscuits, vanilla custard, cream soda, and a hint of Frosties breakfast cereal.

Palate

Zesty lime marmalade and white grapefruit provide brightness, while vanilla toast, marshmallow and sugared almonds lend creamy sweetness. Pear frangipane and aromatic peach weave through, with a candyfloss lift that lingers into orchard-fruit brightness.

Finish

Buttery popcorn and lime bonbons mingle with ripe pear and aromatic orchard fruit, while fizzy oak spice lingers. A delicate dusting of vanilla icing sugar settles on white grapefruit.

Glentauchers
(Glen-TAW-kers) Glentauchers was founded near Mulben in 1897 by James Buchanan and W.P. Lowrie, with production beginning in 1898. Its early history was closely tied to blending from the outset, with James Buchanan & Co taking full ownership in 1906 before later becoming part of DCL in 1925. The distillery was expanded in 1966, closed during the whisky downturn in 1985, and returned to production in 1992.
