Famed for sourcing casks from niche producers, this particular Sauternes Barrique (2009 #3712) is from a winery in South-West France. This French oak cask previously held Sauternes, a dessert wine which originates from Bordeaux. As well as bestowing a golden glow to the spirit, this cask has imparted elegant flavours of stone fruit and sweet spices upon the classic honeyed GlenAllachie spirit.

Colour
Brilliant golden amber with a warm honey glow.
Nose
Bursts with heather honey, citrus and chocolate, woven with cinnamon, mocha and crisp green apples.
Palate
Lashings of tropical fruit, honeyed apricots and butterscotch, followed by baking spices, marmalade and caramelised biscuit.
Finish
An elegant, long finish where honeyed sweetness drapes the palate, carried by tropical fruit and apricot notes. Butterscotch returns, intertwined with marmalade, caramelised biscuit and warming spices, leaving a lingering golden glow and a whisper of citrus zest.
