Glen Elgin Berry Bros & Rudd - Single Cask #1906028 Whisky 12 Year Old · 2007 Vintage
Out of stock
Glen Elgin is situated some three miles south of the city of Elgin. It was the last distillery to be established during the Victorian era, when a collapse in the whisky market saw the distillery change hands several times before becoming part of the Distillers Company Ltd during the 1930’s. This robust Speyside distillate pairs wonderfully with the fresh ex-Pedro Ximenez butt into which it’s been finished for 18 months. The nose is a meeting of Glen Elgin’s trademark waxy marmalade notes and the viscous dried fruit character that comes from the ex-sherry butt. This theme is continued on the palate with a myriad of fresh fruits appearing from the distillate, and merging playfully with the powerful spicey notes of from the wood. An excellent dram for a long winter evening.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and subtle mahogany undertones.
Nose
An inviting fusion of Glen Elgin's waxy marmalade with viscous dried fruit from the sherry cask, subtly lifted by Pedro Ximenez sweetness and warm wood spices.
Palate
Waxed marmalade on the palate greets with bright apple and pear, then dries into fig and raisin from the PX finish. The distillate preserves a lively fruit core, while the sherry cask adds peppery spice—cinnamon and clove—through the mid-palate. Rich and warming, it lingers with orange zest and nutmeg.
Finish
Long and silky, the finish is PX-driven sherry warmth, with waxy marmalade and dried fruit lingering. Dried apricot, raisin and orange peel persist, weaving with toasted oak and spice as a tawny sweetness gradually fades into a refined, enduring glow.
