Bottled by Duncan Taylor for The Octave collection, this Craigellachie was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2025 at 17 years old. Drawn from single Madeira octave cask #7547083, it was bottled at 53.6% ABV as a UK-exclusive release limited to just 63 bottles.
The smaller octave cask intensifies the influence of the Madeira-seasoned oak, adding layers of ripe fruit, caramelised sweetness and warming spice to Craigellachie’s naturally robust Speyside character. The result is a concentrated single-cask whisky that combines weighty malt, tropical fruit and seasoned oak with the richer, vinous character of Madeira.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with burnished copper and mahogany undertones, a warm, sunlit glow that gleams in the glass.
Nose
Expressive Madeira lift over sweet dried fruits—raisin, fig, date—intertwined with burnt sugar, toffee and orange zest. Rich walnut and chocolate notes emerge as vanilla and spice weave through, with clove, cinnamon and nutmeg. A rousing, polished oak backbone pushes through a warm, premium perfume, hinting at espresso and a touch of chocolate-orange liqueur.
Palate
Intense, full-bodied palate brims with Madeira-driven sweetness, layering fig, date and candied orange over dark chocolate and toffee. Toasted almond and warm spices mingle with a velvety, oak-bound finish, leaving coffee-kissed fruit and a lingering, spice-laced glow.
Finish
Long and luxurious, the finish drapes with Madeira-lit fruit: fig, date and orange zest, braided with dark chocolate, espresso and toasted oak. A warm, silky tail that lingers with spice, caramel and a refined nuttiness.
