Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with mahogany tones and a coppery glow.
Nose
Opulent sherry-driven bouquet of dark plum, raisin, fig and orange zest, unfolding into cocoa nibs and toffee. Rich oak and leather emerge, with hints of spice—cinnamon and clove—finishing with a velvety, fruit-forward warmth from the 1972 ex-sherry cask.
Palate
Rich and full-bodied, this 1972 Craigellachie delivers a sherry-kissed tapestry of dried fig, raisin and black cherry, woven with cocoa, treacle and orange zest. Spices—cinnamon, clove, nutmeg—flicker through a warm, peppery spine, while waxy oak lends backbone. The finish is long and luxurious, with toffee, dark fruit and a subtle smoky edge echoing the ex-sherry cask.
Finish
Opulent, long finish driven by ex-sherry depth: dark raisin and fig unfold into cocoa and toasted spice, with velvet tannins shaping a refined dryness. Warm oak lingers, delivering a lasting, elegant echo of sweetness and spice.
