Clynelish whisky is closer to an Island style than other mainland malts, with a complex and fragrant nose and an agreeable long finish that leaves a lingering fresh-fruity flavour.

This 14 year old is a less heavyweight whisky that’s deliciously drinkable and makes a great aperitif.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Wax comes up with water – scented candle wax. Dried flowers on a beach. Later, brown sugar.

Palate

Pleasant creamy mouthfeel; maritime generally.

Finish

Some salt, dryish yet an attractive, even slightly bitter finish.

Clynelish
(KLINE-leash) Established in 1819 by the Marquis of Stafford in 1819, Clynelish was one of the first purpose-built distilleries. In 1823, the distillery became legal under the Excise Act. Unfortunately due to the recession in 1931 the distillery closed and did not open again until the end of World War II.
