Bunnahabhain Feis Ile 2018 - Spanish Oak Finish Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky 16 Year Old · 2002 Vintage
In stock
A limited release of just 1500 bottles for the 2018 Feis Ile that was matured in whisky refill casks and then finished in Spanish oak Gran Reserva butts. A curiously funky and unique expression of Bunnahabhain with fresh ripe fruits, oaky spice with savoury notes of cured meat, farmyard, and leather.
Conclusion: Oddly compelling and transgressive. One for those of you who like it down and dirty.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Radiant deep amber with coppery highlights and a honey-gold glow.
Nose
Big, funky nose opens like a cheesemonger’s shop: pickled herring, mashed neeps, gravy and vegetal notes. Cowshed, silage and gamey venison mingle with leather, with clove, date and prune weaving through. A crack of island spice and warm oak lingers, bold and transgressive.
Palate
Big, smoky, with a light struck-match note. Toasted cereal sits on the tongue before meat juices pool at the centre. Fat and still funky, marrying sweetness with a glossy oiliness. Ginger spice threads through a deeply savoury, gamey core, leaving a robust, lingering finish.
Finish
Robust and long, this finish clings with savory intensity—leather, cured meat and farmyard echo through a spine of oak spice, with a whisper of coastal smoke. It lingers as a mouth-coating warmth that slowly dissolves into dark fruit and subtle oiliness.
