The 3rd release in the Islay Barley series, this time the source is their own Rockside Farm.

Bottled at around 6 years old from un-peated barley and aged in Ex Buffalo Trace Bourbon Barrels.

A creamy curd like laddie, well rounded and the whisky equivalent of a coastal walk on barley harvest day.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Straw-gold with a creamy, sunlit amber glow.

Nose

Lemongrass and fresh citrus dance with salty cheesecake and biscuity malt, while herbal notes and vanilla thread through, finished with a light kiss of runny honey.

Palate

A creamy, well-rounded palate delivering lemon curd, crisp barley and cereal, toasted vanilla, with a whisper of charred oak and spiced grist.

Finish

Fresh and oily citrus lingers, amplified by creamy cereal. Smoked sugared almond and dried apricot echo with a final whisper of ginger.

Bruichladdich
(brook-LADDIE) Bruichladdich distillery is the home of four different malts: the unpeated Bruichladdich, the heavily peated Port Charlotte, the even more peated (and rarely seen) Lochindaal and the super heavily peated Octomore. The distillery was built in 1881 by the Harvey Brothers and at the time it was viewed as a very modern establishment.  It is situated in The Rhinns, in the west of the island, overlooking Loch Indaal. It ran under a succession of different owners including Whyte and Mackay and Murray McDavid before being purchased by Remy Cointreau in 2012.
