Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with copper-gold highlights and a mahogany undertone.
Nose
Opulent sherried aromas rise from the glass: dried fig, raisin and plum mingle with dark chocolate and toffee. Orange zest and warming spices—cinnamon and clove—thread through the richness, while oak and nutmeg underpin with warmth. A subtle coastal brine and espresso nuance add depth, yielding a luxurious, full-bodied nose true to its ex-Sherry maturation at cask strength.
Palate
Opulent and full-bodied, this Bruichladdich delivers a bold sherried sweetness at full cask strength. Rich fig, prune and raisin cloak dark chocolate, toffee and burnt sugar, with warming spices—cinnamon, clove, nutmeg. Oak lends a resinous, almond-like bite, while a subtle maritime hint and light peat thread through. Long, warming finish heavy with fruitcake, cocoa and tobacco.
Finish
An exceptionally long, velvet finish of dark sherry fruit and toasted oak, with fig, raisin and orange peel sweetness. Spices—cinnamon and clove—linger, followed by rich cocoa and espresso notes that fade into warming oak. A gentle whisper of smoke lingers as the sweetness slowly ebbs, leaving a refined, enduring warmth.
