A Benromach single malt released as part of the Rare Malts Selection, this 19 year old was distilled in 1978 and bottled in 1997 at a natural cask strength of 63.8% ABV after maturation in oak.

Benromach was closed in 1983 and remained silent until its reopening in 1998, making releases distilled during this earlier period particularly interesting as examples of the distillery’s pre-revival style.

The Rare Malts series was known for presenting whiskies in a powerful, unfiltered form, often showing a distillery’s character in a more intense way than standard bottlings. Oak maturation supports Benromach’s traditionally robust Speyside profile, where malt richness, gentle smoke and spice are balanced by fruit and structured oak.
