Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber with a copper-gold glow and a subtle burnished mahogany edge.

Nose

Opulent sherried bouquet of dried plum, fig and raisin, brightened by orange zest. Caramel-toffee sweetness glides over polished oak, with almond, cocoa and a whisper of spice, finishing in refined leather and velvet richness.

Palate

Silky, sherried palate delivering dark fruit—prune, fig and cherry—woven with cocoa, toffee and a touch of orange zest. Spices and polished oak rise mid-palate, culminating in a long, elegant finish with velvety sweetness and refined tannins.

Finish

An extended, luxurious finish of rich sherry influence—dark fruits, fig and raisin mingle with toasted oak, cocoa and spice. The warmth lingers elegantly, leaving a velvet afterglow of vanilla and ginger on the palate.

Banff (silent)
Banff was founded in 1824 by James McKilligan & Co. on the Moray coast, originally operating as Mill of Banff before the name became associated with the later Inverboyndie site. James Simpson Jr. built the new distillery in 1863, choosing a position with better access to the Great North of Scotland Railway and water from springs at Fiskaidly Farm. Banff was rebuilt after a major fire in 1877 and later came under Distillers Company Limited ownership in the early 1930s.
