Balvenie Tun 1401 Batch 3 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

An official limited-edition release from Balvenie’s acclaimed Tun 1401 series, Batch 3 was bottled in 2011 at 50.3% ABV with an outturn of 1,800 bottles. This expression was created by marrying whisky from ten hand-selected casks (seven traditional oak and three sherry butts) in Balvenie’s large oak marrying vessel known as Tun 1401, under the direction of the distillery’s malt master.

The combination of traditional oak and sherry casks adds layered richness, with dried fruit, spice and oak depth complementing Balvenie’s classic Speyside character of honeyed malt, gentle fruit and soft vanilla. Batch 3 was chosen as the first Tun 1401 release made exclusively for the US market, and its complexity and balance reflect both the diversity of casks and the careful tuning of the marry-off process.
