The Balmenach distillery was licensed by James McGregor in 1824 making it one of the earliest to be licensed. It is located above the village of Cromdale which is one of the crossing points of the River Spey. This is an independant bottling from Douglas Laing with only 857 bottles hand poured from a single non chill filtered cask.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery sheen and a warm mahogany edge.
Nose
Sweet and gristy, it broadens into a warm hot toddy-style aroma with marmalade and brown sugar.
Palate
Ginger and cinnamon with a citrus tang, plus buttery pastry and vanilla essence.
Finish
A lingering citrus zest persists, mingled with sawdust and buttered wholemeal toast, finishing in warm caramel.
