The Balmenach distillery was licensed by James McGregor in 1824 making it one of the earliest to be licensed. It is located above the village of Cromdale which is one of the crossing points of the River Spey. This is an independant bottling from Douglas Laing with only 857 bottles hand poured from a single non chill filtered cask.

Tasting Notes
Nose
Sweet and gristy immediately developing to a hot toddy style with marmalade and brown sugar.
Palate
A touch of ginger and cinnamon alongside a citrus tang, buttery pastry and vanilla essence.
Finish
Lingers with more of that citric zest plus sawdust, buttered wholemeal toast and caramel.
