"The nose is fragrant, with obvious red wine influence, plus cinnamon, pepper, plums and raspberries. Behind the big wine "front" this is relatively straightforward whisky on the palate, with grape pulp. oak, fudge and spice. Thew finish is medium in length with cloves."
Cask finishing dates back to the 1980s when Balvenie and then Glenmorangie started experimenting with sherry and wine cask ageing. Arran have taken the idea to another level by using some more unusual wines, here the full bodied Italian red wine of Verona is used after @ 8 years in ex bourbon casks and then a finish in the Amarone casks for 6-9 months. This has a lovely pinkish hue and has delicate notes of plum, cherry, raspberry and a touch of pepper and clove spice.

Tasting Notes
Colour
A lovely pinkish hue, a delicate rosy blush with hints of coral.
Nose
An inviting, wine-forward nose where Amarone’s influence comes to the fore: ripe plums and dark cherries, raspberries and a touch of grape pulp. Cinnamon and pepper shimmer amidst a warm, lightly oaked backdrop, with subtle clove spice lending depth.
Palate
On the palate, a wine-forward sweetness coats the tongue with grape pulp, plums and raspberries, supported by oak and creamy fudge. Red-fruit notes—cherry and raspberry—intertwine with pepper and clove spice, delivering a warm, medium-bodied profile. The finish is medium-length, with cloves lingering and a gentle spice echo.
Finish
Medium-length finish with a graceful wave of cloves, backed by a whisper of pepper. Red-fruit echoes—plum, cherry and raspberry—softly fade, leaving a wine-kissed warmth and a refined, spice-laden conclusion.
