HEMISPHERES is a complex blend of two whiskies, worlds apart. A tiny New Zealand maker of Manuka smoked Single Malt, and one of Scotland’s largest distilleries.

The blend was married together in a combination of ex-bourbon hogsheads.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden amber with sunlit honey highlights and a coppery warmth.

Nose

Manuka-smoked aroma leads, a luscious wave of honeyed sweetness. The smoke is lifted by vanilla and light toffee from ex-bourbon casks, with a touch of citrus zest and roasted grain. Warm oak folds in, and a faint ember of smoke lingers, inviting a second inhale.

Palate

Bright with Manuka-smoked malt and honeyed sweetness, layered over creamy vanilla and toffee from bourbon cask. Spices—cinnamon and clove—join zesty citrus, while cocoa and oak add depth. A silky, warming finish carries gentle smoke and char, leaving a long, honey-tinged afterglow.

Finish

Long, warming finish with a delicate echo of Manuka smoke braided into vanilla-caramel and toasted oak. Spices unfurl softly, leaving a creamy sweetness and a citrus-tinted glow that lingers gracefully, inviting another sip.

Woven was founded in 2020 by Peter Allison, Duncan McRae and Nick Ravenhall, with the business launching in 2021 from Leith, Edinburgh. Rather than centring itself on one distillery, Woven was set up as a modern whisky maker focused on blending, with Leith chosen in part because of its long history as a whisky blending and trading hub.
