Undisclosed Speyside (M) Signatory Vintage Cask Strength Collection Single Cask #20 Whisky 18 Year Old · 2005 Vintage
Out of stock
Distilled at Speyside’s most prestigious distillery, close to the banks of the River Spey, just outside the village of Aberlour.
This is the third of these tantalising 'mystery' Undisclosed Speyside (M) first fill Oloroso sherry casks we've had recently, and the first two sold out in moments - and that was before our dear friend Serge at Whiskyfun rated the previous release at 89 points in a tasting alongside some (other?) Macallans. Fastest fingers first on this one.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, burnished amber with mahogany depth and coppery-orange flashes; a rich, sherry-kissed hue that glows with warm, inviting tones.
Nose
Opulent Oloroso perfume fills the glass: dark fruits—raisins, figs, dates—ripen with burnt sugar, toffee and cocoa; orange zest threads through a velvet vein of leather and cedar. Rich walnut and almond mingle with spice—cinnamon and clove—while oak lends a polished, resinous edge, with a whisper of tobacco, revealing cask-strength depth.
Palate
Opulent and full on the palate, this 18-year-old from a first-fill Oloroso cask delivers a rich, mouth-coating wave of dark fruit—prunes, fig and raisin—touched with cherry and orange zest. Nutty almond and cocoa mingle with warming spice, cacao-dusted oak, and a whisper of tobacco. The sherry sweetness remains poised against a robust, cask-strength frame, yielding a long, velvet finish with smoky leather notes.
Finish
Long, opulent finish driven by Oloroso richness: dark cherry and date fruit, treacle and cocoa, with almond and spice giving way to leather and polished oak in a lingering, warming fade.
