The Macallan Speymalt Single Malt Scotch Whisky 17 Year Old · 1985 Vintage
Out of stock
Gordon & MacPhail have been purveyors of fine goods across three centuries and, over many years, have built up and nurtured special relationships with local producers. Among these are several local whisky distilleries in the Speyside region from whom they purchase new-make spirit to be matured in their own oak casks.
However, there is only one distillery for which they reserve the title ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’.
Established in 1824 and situated overlooking the fishing beats on the River Spey, the Macallan Distillery produces a wonderfully complex spirit, which they then carefully mature in quality oak casks ordered specifically for the ‘Speymalt from Macallan Distillery’ range.
Each bottling carries the vintage of distillation and the year of bottling, capturing an exceptionally mature single malt whisky.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Rich amber with copper-gold radiance and mahogany undertones.
Nose
Opulent sherry-driven aroma with polished oak, orange zest and dried fruits. Raisin and fig mingle with toffee, vanilla and spice—cinnamon and nutmeg—while hints of dark chocolate and leather lend depth. A refined, velvety nose that promises elegance born of long, well-seasoned cask maturation.
Palate
Silky and richly sherried, the palate unfurls with dark raisin and fig, ribbons of orange peel and toffee, and evolving spice—nutmeg and cinnamon—coated by velvety oak. A balanced, lingering sweetness carries through to a refined, chocolate-tinged finish.
Finish
Long, refined finish with sherried sweetness lingering on the palate. Dried fig and orange zest give way to cocoa and espresso, while soft cinnamon and nutmeg weave through polished oak. A gentle warming tail fades to a silky, lightly dry afterglow that invites the next sip.
