Colour

Deep amber with a warm copper glow and a touch of mahogany at the rim.

Nose

Opulent sherry-driven aroma: raisin and fig mingle with orange zest, vanilla toffee and cocoa. Nutty almond notes rise to meet warming cinnamon and clove, all wrapped in polished oak and a hint of leather.

Finish

An opulent, lasting finish that flows with dark cherry, fig and rich cocoa, lifted by orange zest and cinnamon. Sherry sweetness folds into refined oak, leaving a velvet coating and a long, warming fade of toasted spice, cocoa nibs and a whisper of smoke.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
