Colour

Rich coppery amber with warm golden highlights and a touch of mahogany.

Nose

Opulent aroma of rich dried fruits, raisins, fig and plum, carried by orange zest, toffee and vanilla. Sherried depth hints at cocoa, cinnamon and toasted oak, with a whisper of coffee and leather.

Palate

Velvety palate with rich dried fruit—raisin and fig—beckoning orange zest. Toffee, vanilla and gentle oak mingle with spices of nutmeg and cinnamon, while dark chocolate and coffee add depth. Long, balanced finish with toasted oak and a lingering sherry warmth.

Finish

Long, warm finish; polished oak threads through rich dried-fruit sweetness, hints of cocoa and orange zest, and a gentle spice that lingers softly.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
