Golden amber with honeyed warmth and a faint coppery glow.

Nose

Malt-forward aroma with warm vanilla and honeyed sweetness, a subtle bitter cocoa edge, and toasted oak; delicate citrus zest adds lift to a creamy, luxurious profile.

Palate

Silky malt with a generous oak backbone and vanilla caress. A bittersweet cocoa edge cuts through the sweetness, while subtle spice adds lift. Creamy, smooth texture and a long, refined finish of oak and cocoa.

Finish

Long, velvety finish of creamy vanilla and toasted oak, gradually giving way to bitter cocoa and a kiss of spice. Malt sweetness lingers, with a citrus brightness brightening the tail for a refined, lingering warmth.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
