Tasting Notes

Colour

Vermilion-tinged amber with copper-gold depth and mahogany edges; a radiant, sun-warmed hue that glows with sunset reflections over the Vermillion Lakes.

Nose

Sweet dried fruit balanced by mature oak, with warming ginger and nutmeg, and hints of dark chocolate and vanilla.

Palate

Sweet and fruity on the palate, with bright orange oil at the core, tempered by warm oak spices for a balanced, inviting profile.

Finish

Medium-sweet and lingering, this finish coats the palate with warm oak and ripe fruit, a soft vanilla-spice echo that persists.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
