The 2018 edition is the first to feature the new bottle design, inspired by the Macallan Rare Cask bottling.

The Macallan Sherry Oak 18 Years Old forms part of the Sherry Oak range, which features a series of Single Malt whiskies matured exclusively in hand-picked Sherry seasoned oak casks from Jerez for richness and complexity.

A full bodied palate of mature oak, ginger and raisin flavours are complimented by a light mahogany natural colour.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Light mahogany with warm amber undertones.

Nose

Warm, decadent notes of treacle tart with stem ginger, soaked raisins and sultanas, lifted by orange zest and a dash of ground cinnamon.

Palate

Soft and rich on the palate, dark chocolate-coated ginger with dates and dried apricots unfold, balanced by oak and a gentle vanilla sweetness.

Finish

Lingering and refined, the finish drapes the palate in dried fruits, ginger and oak, a warm, spiced echo that lingers long after the sip.

The Macallan
Macallan was founded by Alexander Reid in 1824 on the Easter Elchies Estate above the River Spey, and it was one of the first distilleries in Scotland to become legally licensed. The name comes from the older place name “Maghellan”, combining the Gaelic magh for fertile ground with a reference to St Fillan, who was associated with the church that once stood on the estate. Easter Elchies House, which remains central to the brand’s identity, dates from around 1700 and still sits at the heart of the estate.
