Talisker Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Old Bottling) 10 Year Old · 2000 Vintage

The discontinued version of this Talisker is a much underrated dram with drinkers, but always wins awards with reviewers, would make a similar but nice change if you're an Islay drinker.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with burnished copper highlights and mahogany warmth.
Nose
Brisk peat smoke and sea spray rise from the glass, with briny iodine and coastal mineral notes. Sherry sweetness threads through smoky resin, while orange zest, dried fig and a hint of treacle add depth. Cracked pepper, vanilla and subtle oak lend warmth to a maritime, alluring aroma.
Palate
On the palate, a creamy, full-bodied Talisker with coastal peat and brine at its core. Smoke-salted caramel mingles with dried fig and dark chocolate, while peppery warmth (clove and black pepper) rises over silky oak and sherry sweetness. An oily mouthfeel carries a maritime, iodine lift into a long, warming finish that echoes smoke, spice and a touch of sweetness.
Finish
Long, maritime finish with sea-salt smoke and pepper, carrying a delicate sherry sweetness. Dried fruit and cocoa mingle as the heat ebbs, leaving a warm, lingering char and a whisper of coastal brine.
