Strathclyde Limited Edition 2026 Tartan Army Bottling Single Grain Scotch Whisky 27 Year Old · 1998 Vintage
Out of stock
Distilled on 6 October 1998 and bottled at 27 years old, this Strathclyde single grain was released to mark Scotland’s return to the World Cup stage for the first time since France 1998. Matured in three refill American oak bourbon barrels and bottled at a natural strength of 52.7% ABV, the release was limited to 585 bottles, with £5 from each bottle donated to the Tartan Army Sunshine Appeal.
The link between the whisky and the occasion is a good one. Distilled in the same year Scotland last appeared at a World Cup before their long wait came to an end, this is a bottling with a clear sense of occasion behind it. Strathclyde’s grain whisky is well suited to this kind of long maturation too, with the refill bourbon casks allowing a softer, sweeter profile to develop over time rather than pushing the oak too far forward.
