An incredibley rare and interesting Springbank bottling, released exclusively for the China Single Malts Club. 'Door Gods' are a series of releases relating to the Chinese tradition of having paintings on the doors of households to bring luck and happiness to the family. This, the 4th and final edition in the series , contains 2 single cask botles, one drawn from a sherry cask and one from a fresh port hogshead.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep coppery amber with mahogany undertones.

Nose

Classic Springbank maritime profile with coastal brightness. Merengue sweetness mingles with vanilla and lemon, while almond and linseed oil add a nutty, slightly waxy edge to the aroma.

Palate

Sweet, viscous and rounded with notes of honey, custard creme, caramel, nutmeg and black pepper.

Finish

A long, enveloping finish of peat smoke, oak and worn leather.

(SPRING-bank) The 14th distillery to be built in the region of Campbeltown, Springbank is still owned by the Mitchell family, who also own the Glengyle distillery in the same region. Springbank produces three different styles of Single Malt; Hazelburn (triple distilled and non peaty) Longrow (twice distilled and heavy peat of 50-55ppm) and Springbank itself (two and a half times distilled and peated to 12-15ppm). Springbank is also one of the few distilleries that malt their own barley and bottle on site.
