The Ontake Distillery is located in the centre of the Satsuma Peninsula in the Kagoshima Prefecture. Although Ontake was established in 2019, its origins can be dated back to 1845 with the Nishi Shuzo Company and the production of the spirit Shochu.
The 2023 Inaugural Release was small batch matured in specially selected first fill Solera sherry butts, creating a Whisky that offers a rich tasting experience. Sweet aromas of roasted apples and apricots are complemented by refreshing citrus notes and toasted spices. On the palate, it's distinguished by a dry flavour that quickly evolves into a full-bodied sweetness reminiscent of fruitcake, enriched by hints of vanilla. The finish is long and smooth, leaving a lasting impression of richness and complexity.

Colour
Deep amber with warm copper-gold glints, a sunlit mahogany glow that hints at sherry-cask maturation and a kiss of toasted oak.
Nose

Palate
