Sherry-hued, deep golden amber with a coppery glow and mahogany undertones.

Nose

Sea-salt and coastal brine mingle with honeyed barley as sherry depth unfurls. Dried fig, raisin and almond skin meet dark chocolate and a whisper of leather, while citrus zest lends lift. An elegant maritime warmth lingers, hinting at time-worn oak.

Palate

Briny, coastal notes meet opulent sherry oak on the palate. Dried figs and raisins mingle with dark cocoa and orange zest, supported by ripe red fruits and a whisper of spice. Firm, drying tannins lend structure, finishing with a savory tobacco lift that lingers gracefully.

Finish

Long, coastal finish with firm, drying tannins that linger like sea air. Dark sherry-matured notes dissolve into prune and fig, threaded with roasted oak, cocoa and a gentle spice. The warmth remains, tapering to a refined, salty echo that invites the next sip.

Old Pulteney
(Old PULT-nee) Old Pulteney was founded in 1826 by James Henderson in Wick, during the height of the town’s herring boom, and for a time it was the most northerly distillery on mainland Scotland. Its history includes a long silent period after Wick voted to go dry under the Temperance Act: the distillery closed in 1930, prohibition in the town ended in 1947, and production eventually resumed in 1951. Later milestones include a major refurbishment in 1958, Inver House Distillers taking ownership in 1995, and the release of the now-iconic Old Pulteney 12 Year Old in 1997.
