Nantou Distillery is located in the mountains of Taiwan and is fed by fresh spring water with Its sub-tropical climate resulting in fast-maturing whisky.
Its Omar brand which means ‘amber’ in Gaelic – is said to offer an “alternative” to whisky producer Kavalan, which has “dominated” the market as one of only two distilleries in the country.
100% matured in Ex-Sherry casks.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery highlights and a mahogany core, a warm auburn-chestnut glow.
Nose
Dark sherry aromas envelop ripe raisins and figs, with orange zest and caramel weaving through cocoa and toasted almond. Spices—cinnamon and clove—linger over a warm, oaken depth, hinting at the Omar’s amber, indulgent character.
Palate
A velvety, full-bodied palate of dried fruits—raisin, fig and orange peel—paired with almond, toffee and cocoa. Sherry-spice notes of cinnamon and clove weave through caramelized sweetness and dark oak, delivering a warm, slightly resinous mouthfeel with a long, nutty echo.
Finish
Long, velvety finish of rich sherry sweetness—dark prune, raisin and fig, with cocoa and toasted almond. Espresso whispers through spice and oak, fading into a warm, amber glow that lingers on the palate.
