Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber-gold with coppery sheen and subtle mahogany edges, a warm, aged glow evocative of years in sherry casks.
Nose
A velvety, aged oak aroma with rich sherry influence; dark plum and raisin fruit mingle with fig, cocoa, and caramelized sugar. Subtle orange zest, almond paste, and a whisper of leather and spice emerge, inviting slow appreciation.
Palate
Mortlach's palate unfolds with silken richness, a mantle of deep dried fruits: figs, raisins and dates, draped in treacle with a ribbon of dark chocolate. Gentle spice of nutmeg, clove and a hint of cinnamon emerges, balanced by refined oak and leather. Subtle sherry sweetness stays poised, leading to a long, warm finish that lingers with fruitcake and toasted oak.
Finish
Long, luxurious and refined, the finish drenches the palate in dark fruit, toffee and cocoa, with subtle sherry-influence and polished oak. It lingers warm and velvety—leather, walnut, and a whisper of cinnamon.
