Cask Strength Distillery Bottling

Produced to commemorate the distillery's island heritage, Jura Tide has been bottled at 46.7% abv after being matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and finished in virgin American oak casks. Flavour wise, this is sweet, smoky and finessed with a spicy character from hand-selected virgin American white oak casks. Part of Jura's Aged Vintage series, this will be a continuing limited batch release. As such, bottling dates will vary with each release.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Deep amber-gold with a burnished copper edge, a warm honey glow that speaks of its age.

Nose

Coastal sea air and salted breeze rise with ripe vanilla and honeyed toffee. Sweet caramel and a whisper of citrus zest drift through softly toasted virgin American oak, imparting cinnamon and clove alongside a delicate smoky edge. The 21-year maturation lends a refined, creamy oak backdrop, hinting at depth and elegance on the nose.

Palate

Silky honeyed sweetness and vanilla toffee ride a plume of refined smoke, while virgin American white oak furnishes cinnamon and clove warmth. A balanced palate of fruit and caramel unfolds into a maritime finish with lingering elegance and gentle warmth.

Finish

Long, coastal finish with sweet vanilla and caramel lingering alongside aromatic smoke. A lively spike of spice from virgin American white oak sits atop the sweetness, leaving polished oak tannins and a maritime glow that persists into the final warmth.

Jura
(isle-o’-JEW-ra) Jura was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell, Laird of Jura, and was originally known as Small Isles Distillery. The island’s name is widely traced to Old Norse for “deer island”, with red deer still far outnumbering the human residents. The distillery was officially licensed in 1831, later passed to James Ferguson & Sons, and closed in 1901 before remaining silent for more than six decades.
