A lightly peated variation of Jura that was discontinued in early 2018.

Matured in ex-Bourbon casks, this is a sweet, smooth whisky with vanilla, honey and spice with a little bit of smoke on the nose and palate. Probably the closest of the old bottlings to the new Jura flavour profile.

Golden honey with warm amber highlights

Nose

Warm vanilla and honey rise from the glass, entwined with gentle spice and a soft wisp of smoke. The ex-bourbon cask influence lends creamy sweetness to the nose, hinting at Jura’s lightly peated character.

Palate

Silky, creamy palate with vanilla and honey sweetness, intertwined with gentle spice and a whisper of peat smoke. Bourbon-cask maturity lends rounded oak and subtle caramel, finishing smooth and warming.

Finish

Trailing with creamy vanilla and honey, the finish lingers with gentle spice and a subtle, smoky veil. Warm bourbon sweetness persists, tapering to a smooth, oak-inflected afterglow.

Jura
(isle-o’-JEW-ra) Jura was founded in 1810 by Archibald Campbell, Laird of Jura, and was originally known as Small Isles Distillery. The island’s name is widely traced to Old Norse for “deer island”, with red deer still far outnumbering the human residents. The distillery was officially licensed in 1831, later passed to James Ferguson & Sons, and closed in 1901 before remaining silent for more than six decades.
