Your guess is as good as ours on which of the 2 Orkney distilleries this 20 Year Old Secret Orkney is from. All we know is that this is very approachable and a popular style of whisky with a focus on a smooth and fruity character. Also a great price for a 20 plus year old Single Malt.
This is the 2nd batch of Single cask whiskies from the Alistair Walker Whisky Company, cask strength and natural colour with a focus on some high quality but lesser known distilleries.
Wonder where this comes from…? A clue might be in the slightly peaty notes that come through – is there a distillery on Orkney that has a small % of peated malted barley as part of its mash bill?

Tasting Notes
Colour
Natural amber-gold with sunlit copper highlights and a honey-warm glow.
Nose
Liquorice and toffee apples with a faint hint of heathery peat, tempered by a background of freshly laid tarmac.
Palate
Malty and sweet, with generous honey and cereal notes and a touch of crunchy nut cornflakes on the palate.
Finish
Medium, creamy and lingering, the finish coats the palate with honeyed malt and subtle cereal sweetness, then eases into a soft warmth that lingers with velvety ease.
