After blending whiskies from various casks, they allow the liquid ample time to harmonize in the cask before bottling. This intentional, unhurried process—long since overlooked by many distilleries—is crucial for achieving the intense balance that defines Highland Park. By utilizing a significant proportion of first-fill sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks and bottling the 18 Year Old Viking Pride Travel Edition at its marrying strength of 46% ABV, the whisky’s delightful flavors of heather honey, chocolate, and cherries are further enhanced.
The result is a rich and sweet single malt that presents a powerful blend of cherry jam, luscious dark chocolate, heather honey, and waves of floral, aromatic peat smoke.
