On the final day of the last millennium, the Grant family and distillery team came together at Glenfarclas to fill a special series of casks. Among them was George S. Grant, who had served as Chairman for an exceptional 52 years, alongside his son John, now the current Chairman. This moment marked George S. Grant’s final visit to the distillery before his passing in 2002, imbuing this cask with deep personal and historical significance.
Now presented as the Fourth Edition of the Glenfarclas Decanter Series, one cask from the twelve filled that day has been carefully selected to represent the rich heritage and distinctive character of Glenfarclas. Chosen by Pol Roger Portfolio, this single sherry butt was filled on 31st December 1999, matured for over 25 years, and bottled on 28th August 2025.
Bottled at natural colour and 51.2% ABV, just 600 Glencairn decanters have been produced.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep amber with coppery undertones and a touch of mahogany—a natural, sherried glow that speaks of 25 years in cask.
Nose
Opulent, sherried aroma of dark raisins, fig and apricot, brightened with orange zest. Rich toffee and caramel mingle with toasted oak, vanilla, and subtle spice of cinnamon and nutmeg. A whisper of leather and polished barley sugar adds maturity, delivering a warm, inviting fruit-forward bouquet that hints at vintage elegance.
Palate
Opulent and full-bodied, the palate opens with fig, raisin and dried cherry, lifted by orange zest and a kiss of dark chocolate. Rich sherry sweetness coats malt and barley, with warm spice—cinnamon, clove—and toasted oak. Leather notes emerge as the finish grows, giving praline, toffee and orchard fruit a long, luxurious afterglow.
Finish
Long and luxurious, this finish cloaks the palate in sherried richness: prune, fig and raisin mingle with dark chocolate, walnut and toasted oak. Cinnamon and clove linger softly, yielding to a warm, velvety sweetness that slowly fades into refined, lingering warmth.
