Glenfarclas Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky 40 Year Old
In stock
Glenfarclas 40 Year Old is one of the oldest whiskies in the distillery’s core range, and it shows the house’s traditional sherried style in a more mature, more composed form. Matured entirely in sherry casks and now bottled at 43% ABV, it carries all the depth and richness that come with four decades in wood, while still keeping the balance and structure that Glenfarclas does so well.
This is a fuller, more refined style than the 30 Year Old, with the long sherry maturation bringing extra layers of dried fruit, dark chocolate, old oak and warming spice. Glenfarclas has long been known for traditional sherry cask whisky, and this bottling sits right at the top of that style, offering a more polished and deeply developed take on the distillery’s character.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep, regal amber with copper‑mahogany tones; a warm chestnut core that glows with saffron‑tinged highlights in the light, reflecting its long, sherried maturation.
Nose
On the nose, this 40-year-old Glenfarclas unfolds with fresh sweetness and a fruity Turkish delight lift. The sherry backbone deepens into rich dried fruit, mingling with dark chocolate, warm spice and polished old oak, with a whisper of coffee beans. An elegant, poised aroma that speaks to brightness, depth and stately maturity.
Palate
Sweet start gives way to a peppering of caramel and chocolate, as sherry power slowly makes its presence felt. Dark chocolate notes mingle with raisins and sultanas, framed by warm spice and old oak, finishing long and refined.
Finish
Sweet, crisp, and dry, this finish lingers with polished warmth, leaving echoes of dark chocolate, raisins and old oak to fade slowly on the palate.
