(Glen-KEETH) Glen Keith was built in 1957–58 by Seagram in the town of Keith, on the site of a former meal mill directly behind Strathisla, to supply malt for blends such as Chivas Regal, Passport and 100 Pipers. From the beginning it had a slightly unusual role within Speyside: it became Seagram’s experimental distillery, at one stage running triple-distilled spirit, carrying out yeast and mash trials, and becoming the first distillery to use gas-fired direct heating. In the 1970s it also produced a peated variant under the Glenisla name.
