Edradour 200th Anniversary Enigma No.2 Single Cask #368 Whisky Glass Pack 35 Year Old · 1989 Vintage
In stock
The Enigma bottlings show the extremes of maturation conditions. The damp wet dunnage warehouse yields less of a liquid loss but a far greater strength loss. The dry concrete warehouse yields a much higher liquid loss but retains a greater alcoholic strength. This truly is a remarkable Enigma to celebrate Edradour's 200th Anniversary.
Enigma 2 is cask number 368 distilled on 10/10/89 and was matured all its life in a modern concrete warehouse which is partly underground and has air circulated round it 24 hours a day. THe cask produced 379 bottles at a strength of 62.3% ABV.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Burnished gold with deep amber and coppery highlights.
Nose
Bold and inviting, with honeyed orchard fruit—pear and apple—alongside vanilla, toffee, and caramel malt. Subtle wax, almond, and toasted oak frame the sweetness, while a touch of white pepper and nutmeg adds lift. At 62.3% ABV, the aroma feels warm, resinous, and long, hinting at the concrete-ageing that concentrates its character.
Palate
Opulent and substantial on the palate, this pulls you in with toffee, honey, and dried orchard fruit layered over a deep malt backbone. Orange zest, almond oil, and a whisper of dark chocolate add lift, while the 62.3% ABV sits seamlessly in harmony. A mineral, chalky undertone from the concrete-age drifts through, then a long, warm finish of oak spice, espresso, and subtle waxy sweetness.
Finish
An exceptionally long finish that unfolds with peppery spice and mineral oak, slowly revealing dried fruit and cocoa notes. The intense 62.3% ABV keeps a warm, lingering heat that tapers to vanilla and faint tobacco, leaving a refined, contemplative afterglow.
