Tasting Notes
Colour
Natural, deep amber with coppery-gold highlights and a tawny, mahogany edge.
Nose
Marsala-soaked richness on the nose: ripe fig and raisin mingle with candied orange, burnt sugar and toffee. Vanilla-bean oak signs through with malt spice, a touch of cocoa nib and almond paste, yielding a warm, wine-dark sweetness that hints at the cask’s generous influence.
Palate
Full-bodied and unctuous, this Marsala-cask Deanston coats the palate with raisin, fig and orange marmalade, braided with toffee and a syrupy sweetness. A malt backbone lends creaminess as cinnamon, clove and nutmeg rise through the cask-strength warmth. Dark chocolate, espresso and toasted oak linger, delivering a long, warming finish.
Finish
Long, dessert-warm finish infused with Marsala: dried fruits, orange zest and fig mingle with velvety toffee, while dark chocolate and toasted oak spice linger. A cask-strength glow persists, gradually fading into a nutty, subtly dry finale.
