Production stopped in 1982 during a difficult period for Scotch whisky, before Burn Stewart bought Deanston in 1990 and restarted distilling the following year. The distillery later passed through CL Financial and Distell, and is now part of CVH Spirits alongside Bunnahabhain and Tobermory/Ledaig.
Deanston produces Highland single malt with a naturally weighty, waxy texture, using water from the River Teith and 100% Scottish barley. Its whisky is bottled without chill filtration or added colour, with core releases including Deanston Virgin Oak, 12 Year Old and 18 Year Old, alongside organic and experimental cask-finished expressions.
