Deanston Orange Wine Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky 17 Year Old
Out of stock
In 1966, founder Brodie Hepburn transformed a forgotten cotton mill into the Deanston Distillery — a Highland distillery where heritage meets innovation and flavour leads the way.
Orange Wine Cask Finish is the latest chapter in that story. The spirit first rests in ex-bourbon casks for 15 years, building the honeyed richness and waxy depth the distillery is known for, before an unexpected yet entirely intentional curveball: a rare two-year finish in Vino de Naranja casks — a fortified wine made with sun-dried orange peel and aged the old-school way in a solera system.
This unconventional cask choice delivers a burst of Spanish sun - notes of zesty orange, fragrant honey, toasted nuts and sun-soaked fruit - all wrapped in Deanston’s rich, rounded mouthfeel.

Tasting Notes
Colour
Deep sun-warmed amber with a honey-gold sheen and copper-orange glow.
Nose
Freshly peeled orange zest and marmalade, with dried apricots at the fore, layered with honey, toasted almonds, and a soft malt sweetness. Hints of white flowers, light oak spice, and a subtle herbal edge reminiscent of chamomile tea.
Palate
Tangy citrus oils and blood orange lead the palate, balanced by stone fruits, sultanas and a malty biscuit core. Vinous depth from the wine cask shows orange blossom honey, ginger and gentle nutmeg, with a subtle wood spice underpinning the long, dry finish.
Finish
Zesty finish with lingering orange peel and a subtle oak kiss, fading to a warm, malted echo.
