This is a superb 18 year old expression from Deanston. The spirit is matured in ex-American oak hogsheads and then finished in first fill ex-bourbon casks. Satisfyingly rich and sweet, this Whisky offers masses of honey, shortbread and vanilla custard.

Tasting Notes

Colour

Golden-amber with honeyed warmth, a sunlit amber-bronze glow.

Nose

Quite aromatic, with balanced American oak notes underpinning a bouquet of floral and malty brightness. Vanilla and honey weave through the aroma, with subtle hints of tobacco and nutmeg lending depth and warmth.

Palate

Sweet and spicy on the palate, with bright citrus. Barley sugar and gingerbread mingle with Manuka honey, finishing with white pepper for a warmly confectionary-spiced profile.

Finish

Dry and spicy, a warming gingery honeyed tail lingers long, with vanilla-soft malt notes curling through the warmth and fading to a gentle honeyed glow on the palate.

Deanston
(DEANS-ton) Deanston began life in 1785 as a cotton mill on the banks of the River Teith near Doune, before Brodie Hepburn converted the site into a whisky distillery in the 1960s. The distillery opened in 1966, with the first single malt under the Deanston name released in 1974. The old mill buildings still shape the site today, including maturation in the former weaving sheds and power generated from the River Teith.
