Caol Ila's 8th release as part of the 2013 Diageo Special Releases.

Unpeated and bottled at natural cask strength of 59.6% and aged in American oak, rejuvinated American oak and Ex-Bodega European Oak.

Named in honour to Billy Stitchell who retired as distillery manager in 2013.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Lime curd, coastal spray freshness, oily pear drops, salty seaweed, green olive oil.

Palate

Sweet citrus, salted green apple, oily vanilla, fresh and creamy biscuity or bread dough.

Finish

Oily citrus, vanilla ice cream eaten on a coastal pier with salty sea air, chilli flake on seaweed.

Caol Ila
(kowel-EEL-ah) Caol Ila was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson near Port Askaig on Islay’s east coast, overlooking the Sound of Islay between Islay and Jura. Its Gaelic name refers to that stretch of water, and the site was chosen with access to sea transport and a water supply from Loch nam Ban. Ownership changed early, passing to Norman Buchanan in 1854 and then to Bulloch Lade & Co in 1863.
