Located on the far Eastern edge of Speyside, but according to their own labels it's a Highland single malt and is also an important part of Bacardi's William Lawson's blended whisky. Macduff distills a soft, sweet and fruity spirit that exhibits plenty of green apple and nutty notes. The new make spirit is described as having a slight oily quality. Companies such as Gordon & Macphail and Douglas Laing frequently release bottlings of Macduff in various cask expressions
Now owned by John Dewar & Sons under Bacardi, Macduff’s official single malt is usually released as The Deveron or Glen Deveron, while the Macduff name is most often seen on independent bottlings. The distillery is unusual for having five stills, with two wash stills and three spirit stills, and its whisky is generally known for a coastal Highland style with orchard fruit, vanilla, toffee, soft spice, malt and gentle oak.
