The distillery worked continuously until 1931, later closing again during wartime barley restrictions, and eventually fell silent in 1983. Inver House Distillers bought Knockdhu in 1988 and production restarted the following year, bringing the distillery back into active use after a period of uncertainty.
Knockdhu’s single malt is bottled under the anCnoc name, introduced to avoid confusion with Knockando. The style is generally fresh, approachable and lightly fruity, with orchard fruit, honey, malt and gentle spice across the core anCnoc range, while occasional peated releases show a smokier side of the distillery’s Highland whisky production.
