About J&B
J&B stands for Justerini & Brooks, the London wine and spirits merchant founded in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini. The Brooks name was added later after Alfred Brooks bought the business, creating the name that would become closely linked with blended Scotch whisky. J&B Rare was created in the early 1930s and became the company’s best-known whisky. It was built with international markets in mind, especially the United States, where its lighter, smoother style helped it become one of the most recognisable Scotch whisky blends of the 20th century.
Now part of Diageo, J&B Rare is a blended Scotch whisky made from a large selection of malt and grain whiskies. Speyside malts sit at the heart of the blend, including whisky from Knockando, Auchroisk, Strathmill and Glen Spey, giving J&B its approachable character of soft malt, gentle fruit, light spice and clean sweetness.
