J&B stands for Justerini & Brooks, the London wine and spirits merchant founded in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini. The Brooks name was added later after Alfred Brooks bought the business, creating the name that would become closely linked with blended Scotch whisky. J&B Rare was created in the early 1930s and became the company’s best-known whisky.
