Colour

Dark, burnished amber with copper-gold highlights and a honeyed, sunlit glow.

Nose

Waxy lemon leads the nose, with salted barley, a delicate wisp of smoke, white pepper, and almond, finishing with a hint of gunpowder tea for a cool, coastal edge.

Palate

Salted almonds and white pepper unfold on a waxy lemon base, with toasted spices and biscuity grain lending a crisp, lingering palate.

Finish

A lingering finish of green fruit, salt and pepper, carried by coastal citrus with a delicate veil of light peat smoke, leaving a crisp, maritime echo.

J&B stands for Justerini & Brooks, the London wine and spirits merchant founded in 1749 by Giacomo Justerini. The Brooks name was added later after Alfred Brooks bought the business, creating the name that would become closely linked with blended Scotch whisky. J&B Rare was created in the early 1930s and became the company’s best-known whisky. It was built with international markets in mind, especially the United States, where its lighter, smoother style helped it become one of the most recognisable Scotch whisky blends of the 20th century.
