About Armorik
Armorik is produced by Distillerie Warenghem in Lannion, Brittany, founded in 1900 by Léon Warenghem. The distillery first built its reputation on liqueurs and regional spirits before moving into whisky under Gilles Leizour, filling its first whisky casks in 1983 and launching WB Breton blended whisky in 1987. A dedicated whisky distillery followed in 1993, with Armorik Single Malt officially launched in 1998 as the first single malt from Brittany and France.
Production is carried out at the distillery, from mashing and fermentation through to distillation, maturation and bottling. Armorik uses copper pot stills, Breton and French grain, water from beneath the distillery, and ageing influenced by Brittany’s maritime climate. Some releases also use Breton oak from forests such as Cranou and Brocéliande, made in partnership with local cooper Jean-Baptiste Le Floc’h.
Armorik played an important role in the development of French whisky, including Warenghem’s participation in the creation of the “Whisky Breton” geographical indication in 2015. The range includes Classic, Double Maturation, Sherry Cask, peated and limited vintage releases, with a style shaped by malt sweetness, orchard fruit, coastal freshness and varied cask influence.
